Researching and experiencing motivation: a plea for balanced researchCentre for English Language Teacher Education, University of Warwick, UK, lina7936{at}gmail.com Intrigued by van Liers call for balanced teaching, I come up with a proposal of balanced research. In this paper, I describe my personal involvement in a four-month teaching/data-gathering experience (as a part of my doctoral research project on task motivation) which shows that it both necessitates and ends up involving such a balanced approach. Meanwhile, Exploratory Practice, as a set of general principles for practitioner research, offers great support for my joint teacher/researcher enterprise as well.
